American Cutting Edge specializes in surgically-sharp blades from .0025" to .062" thick and produces blades from many innovative materials to offer our customers the highest quality cuts and the most economical product. Also supplied are blades produced from Tungsten Carbide, Ceramics and High Speed Steel, as well as the normal Stainless and Carbon Steels.

Surgical Blades

Surgical blades are typically very precise blades made in unique shapes. They require high level blade measurement tolerances, super keen cutting edges, important packaging requirements and are often extremely small. These blades are often used to cut, skin, puncture, or even skim, human skin, tissue, plasma, cells etc. Surgical blades also include blades or puncturing devices used for plastic tubing like IV tubes, and medical packaging blades. The high standards required by medical guidelines often mean that only a few blade makers are typically qualified to produce surgical blades. The most important parts of the surgical blade are the cutting edge (made to precise tolerances) and the finish (which protects the blade from oxidation).
