| Megopak
Thermocouples |
| Megopak
thermocouples consist of the T/C wires with magnesium oxide
insulation in sheath of 316 SS or Inconel These materials are
compacted into one solid mass providing small diameter sensors for
many applications. This structure enables the sensor to be
constructed in diameters from 1/6" to 3/8". They can be
easily bent and configured to match the physical requirements of
the application. Megopak can be fabricated into any length up to
100 feet or more and with grounded, insulated or exposed hot
junction. Many cold end terminations are available including the
large cast iron screw cover head as well as the miniature aluminum
head, Quik Konnect plug or jack and many types of extension wire
which are connected directly to the Megopak wire by means of a
sealpot. |

w/Protecting Tubes |
| This
construction includes a thermocouple element in gage sizes of #8,
#14 or #20 with porcelain insulators and is inserted into a
protecting tube. The protecting tube can be made of many different
materials and is selected depending upon the requirements and
demands of the application. The selection also includes ceramic
tubes which are usually used at temperatures above 2200 deg. F.
The assembly also includes a general purpose or screw cover
(weather-proof) head. Mounting attachments are optional and
include both adjustable flange and steel bushings welded to the
tube. When the bushing is selected, the length of insertion
(position of the bushing on the tube) must also be specified. |

resistance temperature detectors are used when accuracy of output
is important. The maximum temperature is 900 deg. F. unless
special construction is used and they are usually somewhat less
sensitive to temperature changes than thermocouples. Standard
constructions consist of sheath with terminal head, sheath with
extension wire or spring loaded element in well. The sheath
diameter is usually 1/4" and the material is 316 SS. The head
can be either general purpose or screw cover (weather-proof) and
when extension wire is requested, teflon insulation is used. Well
design is offered with carbon steel, type 304 SS or type 316 SS
material. |

| Radiamatic/Rayotube
Sensor |
| Both
the Radiamatic and Raytoube are non-contact sensors. They are
sighted on an object and generate an emf proportional to the
temperature of the object. They are used in applications where the
variable to be measured cannot tolerate direct contact with the
sensor. The maximum recommended temperature limit is approximately
3400 deg. F. for the Radiamatic and 5000 deg F. for the Rayotube.
The Rayotube also provides somewhat greater speed of response.
Both sensors are available with various mounting arrangements
including both water and air cooled fittings. In addition, both
sighting (open end) and target (closed end) tubes in a number of
different materials are also available. Selection is contingent
upon size of target and distance of the sensor from the target.
Target (closed end) tubes should be used where smoke or other
debris will negatively impact the sight line of the sensor. |
