The Syfer range of EMI filters includes both surface mount and panel mount options. All are low pass filters for suppressing conducted ElectroMagnetic Interference (EMI).

Surface mount types include 3 terminal EMI chips, 2A high current EMI chips, and high current and high voltage SMD pi-filters with 5A and 10A current ratings. Applications include power supplies, telecoms, automotive, audio, military, aerospace, and any electrical equipment requiring EMI filtering on signal or dc lines at pcb level.

Panel mount types include solder and threaded mounting styles, in a range of sizes and threads. Multiway assemblies can also be provided. Capacitance values up to 2.2mF, and voltages up to 2,000Vdc are available. Electrical configurations include C, L-C, T and Pi-section.

Applications include military, aerospace, RF modules and amplifiers, telecoms, power supplies.

The Syfer range of Varistor Filters provides both transient voltage protection and EMI filtering in one device. The heart of this unique component is a multilayer varistor Discoidal device, which provides a dual function. The use of metal oxide based ceramic (MOV) provides the voltage protection, with bi-directional clamping, while the inherent capacitance, due to the multilayer construction, ensures effective low pass EMI filtering up to at least 1GHz.

In addition to the benefit of 2 functions in one component, another advantage is that any transient voltages are clamped before they enter the equipment. If PCB mounting transient suppressors are used instead, the transient is allowed to enter the equipment, before being attenuated at board level.

Applications include RF modules and amplifiers, military, aerospace, and any application where additional protection at the equipment interface is required.

The Syfer Balanced Line X2Y^® Chip is a 3 terminal EMI filter device. The revolutionary design provides simultaneous line-to-line and line-to-ground filtering, contained in a single ceramic chip. This facilitates differential and common mode filtering to be provided in one device and may replace 2 or more conventional devices. It is ideal for balanced lines, twisted pairs and matched impedance circuits and gives the design engineer the possibility to reduce component count, save board space and achieve applied cost.

Automotive equipment applications are specifically relevant due to demanding EMI specifications from the car manufacturers and include examples such as dc motors and electronic systems such as throttle control, braking systems and airbags. Other applications include audio, sensors and transducers.
