Adjustable Thermostats - Shaft Adjustment - S200 Series These thermostats have a base plate with a high coefficient of expansion. A spring of low-expansion alloy is welded at each end of the base plate. When the base plate is heated, it expands and the alloy spring moves in a downward direction allowing the large silver contacts to open. They are among the most durable electrical switches available, yet they are surprisingly inexpensive. Often referred to as "expanding-action thermostats," they are mounted directly on a heated surface and are ideally suited to a number of commercial applications.
